8th Annual Lake Blessing

About This Event

Each year before the official start of our season, Wingra Boats takes a moment to recognize the water, the land, and the incredible gift it is to each of us. We ask for a safe season and a summer of wonder and joy.
We are honored to partner with The Redbird Family and the Waterspirit Singers as we take a time to thank Mother Earth, the lake, and recognize we reside on the ancestral land of the Ho-Chunk Nation. We have the opportunity and the responsibility to continue honoring and respecting their land and waters.
Thomas Redbird and the Redbird Family are members of the Water Spirit Clan of the Ho-Chunk Nation. They will lead us in a tobacco ceremony and a lake blessing to honor and practice respect for the natural world of which we are a part. Ho-Chunk people still follow the oral tradition of passing along such information by word of mouth, and the Redbird family will be around to answer questions before and after the event.
We hope you can join us for this annual lake blessing and season kick-off.
